Good afternoon everyone, thank you very much for this kind invitation. I see the topic is the Middle East and I would like to offer a more optimistic note than the one we usually read about or hear about.
Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, headed the Kingdom’s delegation to the anti-Daesh coalition partners meeting in Brussels today. The meeting discussed the current situation in the Middle East and joint international action plan to fight terrorism. Issues of common interest between the Kingdom and those countries in the field of defense were discussed during the meetings. Exchanging viewpoints on the agenda of the meeting of international coalition countries to fight Daesh terrorist organization were also discussed.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir held a trilateral meeting with Qatari Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdurrahman Al Thani and Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu on the sidelines of the Munich meeting of Vienna group (International Syria Support Group).
Minister Al-Jubeir also held a quadrilateral meeting with US Secretary of State John Kerry; Qatari Foreign Minister Sheikh Al Thani and Turkish Foreign Minister Cavusoglu. The meetings discussed the latest developments of the crisis in Syria in addition to regional and international developments.
Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Second Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense met today with French Defense Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian the anti-ISIS coalition partners meeting in Brussels. During the meeting, they discussed bilateral cooperation and regional latest developments.
The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman is to visit Egypt on April 4, the Kingdom’s ambassador to Egypt, Ahmed Kattan announced today.
Ambassador Kattan stressed that the visit comes in light of great attention paid by the King Salman to the government and people of Egypt and his keenness to strengthen ongoing cooperation between the two countries in all fields.
Minister of Social Affairs Dr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Qusaibi, said that upon directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, the Saudi Credit and Saving Bank has allocated $900 million to help needy Saudi families, including $500 million to support small projects o and $400 million for the projects of the productive families.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Adel bin Al-Jubeir met with a number of congressional leaders during his visit to Washington Feb. 8 and 9.
During the meetings, they discussed a number of topics of concern to the two countries, as well as bilateral relations in all fields of joint cooperation.
The meetings were attended by Ambassador Abdullah Al-Saud, Undersecretary of Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Bilateral Relations Dr. Khalid Al-Jandan, and Director of Information Affairs Department Ambassador Osama Nuqali.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir stressed the possibility of sending Saudi special forces to Syria within framework of the US-led coalition against Daesh (ISIS) terrorist organization.
The Command of Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen announced today that Saudi Air Defense Forces intercepted a ballistic missile launched from Yemeni territory, toward Jazan, without causing any damage. Coalition air forces destroy the missile launch pad in Yemen.
In his article published in Newsweek magazine, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir said that those that accuse the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia of supporting violent extremism and terrorism not only fail to acknowledge the Kingdom’s leadership in combating terrorism and extremism around the world, but they also do not see that it is illogical and irrational for the Kingdom to be anything less than at the forefront of nations combating this scourge.
