(WASHINGTON, DC) – Saudi Ambassador to the United States Prince Turki Al-Faisal today rebuked Osama bin Laden’s latest message and called for increased international cooperation concerning oil prices during a speech at the School of Public and International Affairs at Columbia University in New York City.

In reference to bin Laden’s recent taped message, Prince Turki remarked: “Osama bin Laden does not speak for Muslims. He does not represent Islam. His religion is extremism, and his practice is terror. He leads a cult that is a perversion of a benevolent and peaceful faith.”

(WASHINGTON, DC) – Saudi Ambassador to the United States Prince Turki Al-Faisal has embarked on a tour throughout the U.S. to listen to and address Americans’ questions about Saudi Arabia and its place in the global community. Prince Turki will next be in Manhattan, Kansas on April 4 and 5 to meet with members of the Kansas State University Saudi Club, as well as local academic and community leaders.

(WASHINGTON, DC) – The Ministry of Interior today released the identities of four of the five Al-Qaeda militants killed when Saudi security forces raided a Riyadh safehouse yesterday. The raid was carried out in connection with the foiled February 24 terrorist attack on the Abqaiq oil facility, in which two members of the Saudi security forces died.

Tapes donated to the archives of the King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies

(WASHINGTON, DC) - Saudi Ambassador to the United States Prince Turki Al-Faisal today received a reproduction of the Franklin Film Archive of the Middle East, the preeminent assemblage of Middle East film footage in the world.  In a ceremony at the Saudi Embassy, Prince Turki accepted the tapes from Ms. Jo Franklin on behalf of the archives of the King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies, of which he is a board member.

(WASHINGTON, DC) - Saudi Arabia has completed the formation of 178 municipal councils throughout the Kingdom in line with directives issued by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz as part of his political reforms.  Half of the members of the municipal councils were elected last spring.

(Washington, DC) - Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz today called for unity and tolerance in order to address the challenges faced by the Muslim world in remarks opening the third extraordinary summit of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) in Makkah, Saudi Arabia.

(WASHINGTON, DC) – His Royal Highness Prince Turki Al-Faisal presented his diplomatic credentials to President George W. Bush at the White House today.  Acceptance of the credentials confirms Prince Turki’s position as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the United States of America.
