King Salman Calls for Economic Strength and Stability in Major Policy Address

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz on today announced his domestic and foreign policies to a group of government officials, scholars and other dignitaries in Riyadh. King Salman emphasized his plan to build a more diversified economy and defend Islamic causes globally.
King Salman addressed falling oil prices, assuring the Saudi people that the nation will remain economically stable. “We encourage and support medium and small enterprises to grow so that they become a strong economic area for a large segment of society,” King Salman stated. “The coming years will witness rich and great achievements that enhance industrial and services roles in the national economy.”
King Salman reinforced the Kingdom’s commitment to the teachings of Islam, stating that Saudi foreign policy would continue to defend Islamic causes globally. “Saudi foreign policy is always committed to the teachings of our religion, calling for love and peace in accordance with its principles,” said King Salman.
In response to the growing threat of extremism and violence in the region, King Salman condemned terrorism in all forms. He stated, “The Kingdom is focused on the fight against extremism and terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, whatever its sources, and in cooperation with brotherly and friendly countries and the international organizations in the fight against this detestable menace, and in seeking eradicating its roots and causes.”
King Salman also emphasized the need for the Kingdom to prioritize national security stating, “Security is everyone’s responsibility and will not allow anyone to tamper with our security and stability.”
King Salman urged the people of Saudi Arabia to stand united and said that Saudi Arabia would continue its efforts to achieve comprehensive, integrated and balanced development for all regions. “Ever since the Kingdom’s founding, the government has been making continuous efforts for development and modernization, without deviating from religious principles and social values while protecting the rights of all citizens,” said King Salman.
