King Appoints New Crown Prince, Deputy Crown Prince and Foreign Minister

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz today issued a number royal orders, including the appointments of a new crown prince, deputy crown prince and foreign minister.
Crown Prince and Deputy Prime Minister Prince Muqrin bin Abdulaziz was relieved of his post at his request. Prince Mohammad bin Naif was appointed crown prince and deputy prime minister. He will retain his positions as minister of interior and president of the Council of Political and Security Affairs.
Prince Mohammed bin Salman was appointed as deputy crown prince and second deputy prime minister. He will retain his positions as minister of defense and president of the Council of Economic and Development Affairs.
Prince Saud Al-Faisal was relieved as foreign minister at his request for health reasons. He was appointed state minister, cabinet member, adviser and special envoy to King Salman, and supervisor on foreign affairs. Saudi Ambassador to the United States Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir was appointed as the new foreign minister
Other key appointments also announced today included: Khaled bin Abdulaziz Al-Falih as minister of health and chairman of Saudi Aramco; Adel bin Mohammed Fakeih as minister of economy and planning; Mufrej bin Saad Al-Haqbani as minister of labor; and Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al-Suwailem as chief of the Royal Court at the rank of minister.
