Foreign Minister Prince Saud Al-Faisal headed the Kingdom’s delegation to the 139th ordinary session of the Foreign Ministers of the Arab League Council in Cairo today. During his remarks, Prince Saud presented a proposal to form a neutral, independent working group made up of representatives from various Arab states to develop ideas for increasing the effectiveness of the Arab League.
Such a team, he said, will discuss the circumstances that have led to Arab inaction and come up with plans to promote broad-based cooperation. Prince Saud noted that any reforms will be based on the Arab League covenant and charter, which have already been approved by the member states. Furthermore, he said, the restructuring process should be transparent and aimed at achieving the aspirations of the Arab people.
