December 29, 2012

The Minister of Culture and Information Dr. Abdulaziz Khoja warned that any satellite television channel that instigates sedition among members of the Saudi society, or threatens national unity will be shut down, Saudi Gazette reported today, citing an Al-Watan daily reported.  Minister Dr. Khoja told Al-Watan that his ministry would soon issue new regulations regarding the channels that seek to stir racism in the Saudi society and reiterated the ministry’s outright rejection to any such channels, and urged the public to do the same.

Last March, the ministry shut down a Saudi-owned satellite TV channel after it aired a program that was blamed for instigate sectarian sedition in the Kingdom.
