December 8, 2013

Deputy Minister of Defense Prince Salman bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz was received by Bahraini King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa at Al-Godaybia palace in Manama yesterday. During the meeting, Prince Salman conveyed the greetings of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, while King Hamad praised the deep rooted ties between Saudi Arabia and Bahrain.

The Deputy Foreign Minister was in Bahrain to attend the 12th Conference of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Joint Defense Ministers Council and the 2013 Manama Dialogue Forum.

Prince Salman met with several other officials on the sidelines of those meetings, including U.S. Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel. In a statement released yesterday, Pentagon spokesman Carl Woog confirmed that the meeting had taken place, noting that the two sides had discussed U.S.-Saudi cooperation. “The Secretary underscored the strength of the bilateral relationship and noted the centrality of the long-standing ties between the two countries,” he said. “Secretary Hagel conveyed, during the meeting which took place yesterday, that the United States remained committed to regional security and stability, a shared objective with Saudi Arabia.”
