Education Minister addresses Saudi-U.S. Business Opportunities Forum

Over the past few decades, Saudi Arabia has achieved remarkable economic and educational transformations, Minister of Education Prince Faisal bin Abdullah bin Mohammed told an audience in Atlanta, Georgia on Tuesday. Addressing the Saudi-U.S. Business Opportunities Forum, Prince Faisal characterized the educational system in the Kingdom as a model for the Middle East and North Africa. He noted that there are approximately 33,000 schools in Saudi Arabia, attended by more than 5 million students (a third of the population) and nearly 500,000 teachers. Furthermore, Prince Faisal touted the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Program for Foreign Scholarship, which has provided the opportunity for more than 130,000 students to study at the best universities in the world in a wide range of disciplines.

Addressing the future, the Education Minister noted that the Kingdom is currently focused on building a knowledge-based economy. He touted the Forum as reflective of the strong partnership and mutual trust shared by Saudi Arabia and the United States, stressing the importance of opening new horizons for bilateral cooperation.

Minister of Commerce and Industry Abdullah bin Ahmed Zainal Alireza also emphasized the solidness of Saudi-US relations. Speaking today at a luncheon held on the sidelines of the Forum, the he predicted that the gathering will lay the foundation for closer partnerships that will serve mutual interests.
