King Abdullah orders restructure of civil aviation, Saudi Airlines

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz today issued a Royal Decree [Royal Decree A/230 dated 9 Dhu al-Hijjah 1432 (November 5, 2011)]:

First:

1. The Chairman of the General Authority for Civil Aviation serves as Chairman of its Board. The Board shall be restructured accordingly.
2. The responsibilities of Civil Aviation will be transferred from the Ministry of Defense to the General Authority for Civil Aviation, including staff, properties, documents, allocations and relevant funds.
3. A committee composed of the Ministry of Civil Service, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Defense and the General Authority for Civil Aviation will be formed to prepare an executive plan to implement the aforementioned items in paragraph 2 of this article. The report should be submitted to the King within three months from this date.

Second:

The Chairman of the General Authority for Civil Aviation serves as Chairman of the Board of Saudi Arabian Airlines Company. The Board shall be restructured accordingly. The Saudi Arabian Airlines Company shall organizationally be attached to the Prime Minister.

Third:

In cooperation with the concerned authorities, the Experts Commission at the Cabinet shell revise the laws, regulations, orders and decisions which have been affected by the previous articles and to suggest what should be done in this regard and to report, within three months from this date, to pave the way for the completion of the necessary procedures.

The concerned authorities should carry out this order with immediate effect.
