Crown Prince chairs Cabinet session (10/7/13)

Crown Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz chaired the Cabinet session at Al-Salam Palace in Jeddah this afternoon. The ministers began by welcoming the visit of Egyptian Interim President Adli Mansour to the Kingdom, stressing the deep relations between Egypt and Saudi Arabia.
Then, the Cabinet was briefed on regional and world events, particularly the crisis in Syria. It renewed the Kingdom’s call for the international community to shoulder its legal and moral responsibilities and put an end to the violence in that country, while holding those who have committed horrific crimes accountable. Furthermore, it stressed the importance of intensifying efforts to address the terrible humanitarian catastrophe being played out in the region.
Turning to local matters, the Cabinet was briefed on the preparations being undertaken by various ministries, governmental agencies and private organizations to provide services for pilgrims in Makkah, Madinah and the holy sites. Crown Prince Salman emphasized the importance of implementing the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz to harness all the resources of the state to allow pilgrims to complete their Hajj rituals with ease and comfort.
Next, the Council welcomed the inauguration of the headquarters of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Monetary Council in Riyadh. It reaffirmed the Kingdom’s commitment to enhancing cooperation and integration between the GCC states.
Finally, the ministers reviewed the activities that accompanied the celebrations marking the eightieth anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Italy and the Kingdom.
Addressing its remaining agenda items, the Cabinet approved the Kingdom’s subscription to the shares allocated to it under the decisions of the Board of Governors of the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the Board of Governors of the International Finance Corporation; approved the appointment of Nasser Al-Qahtani as a member of the Governing Council of the National Water Company; and approved the appointment of Dr. Zamel Znadh and Dr. Saad Al-Bazai to the Board of Directors of the General Authority for Audio and Visual Media for three year terms.
The Cabinet approved the appointments of Abdullah Al-Qahtani as Undersecretary of the Najran Province Principality (15th rank); Fahd Al-Jalajl as Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry for Consumer Affairs (15th rank); Dr. Fahd Humaid as Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry for Technical Affairs (15th rank); Abdullah Brickett as Deputy Governor for Technical Affairs and Projects at the Water Saline Conversion Corporation (15th rank); and Misha’al Al-Shetri as Director General of the Minister’s Office at the Ministry of Agriculture (14th rank).
