Saudi Ambassador to the United Nations Abdullah Al-Mouallimi lauded yesterday’s vote by the U.N. General Assembly to denounce the Syrian government for its violent crackdown over the past 17 months. “Today is a victory for the Syrian people,” he said. “It is a reflection of the will of the international community to respond with one voice.” Speaking to reporters at U.N. headquarters in New York following the vote on an Arab-sponsored resolution, Ambassador Mouallimi stated, “We have seen the result that demonstrates the broad consensus within the international community, a consensus that does not support the paralysis of the Security Council.”
