Saudi households consume nearly half of electricity produced in Saudi Arabia, Saudi Gazette report today. According to the Electricity & Co-Generation Regulatory Authority’s (ERCA) annual report, the household sector represented 48 percent of the total electricity consumption in 2013, 70 percent of consumption was for air-conditioning. Average retail price of electricity to residential customers is 4 cents per kilowatthour compared to 12.31 cents per kilowatthour in the U.S. The average Saudi household electricity consumption is almost double the average global consumption, the daily reported.
