Shura Council delegation meets with Speaker Pelosi

A delegation from the Majlis Al-Shura (Consultative Council) met with the Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi (D-California) in Washington yesterday.

They discussed a range of issues, including the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, the situation in Iraq, counterterrorism efforts, oil prices and the Saudi economy. The Shura Council delegation also highlighted its desire to boost relations with the US Congress.

The delegation is currently in Washington for a week-long visit to the United States. The visit aims to enhance Saudi-US relations on the governmental level.

While in Washington, members of the delegation have met with US elected officials as well as think tanks. In addition, they met with Saudi Ambassador to the United States Adel A. Al-Jubeir, who also hosted a luncheon for them at the Embassy.

The delegation consists of Council members Dr. Bandar Al-Eiban, Eng. Osama Al-Kurdi, Yousuf Al-Maimani and Dr. Khalid Al-Awwad. It also includes Dr. Nuhad Al-Jishi, a consultant in pediatrics and neonatology at the Dammam Maternity and Children’s Hospital who serves as an advisor to the Council.
