June 11, 2010

A final communiqué was issued yesterday evening at the conclusion of the 3rd Arab-Turkish Cooperation Forum in Istanbul stressing the urgent need to promote the principles of dialogue, understanding and respect among the followers of different religions and cultures. The participants in the Forum, including the foreign ministers of several Arab countries and Turkey, welcomed the role played by Saudi Arabia in promoting dialogue. They particularly praised the “World Conference on Dialogue,” which was held in Madrid in July 2008 under the patronization of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz and Spanish King Juan Carlos.

The communiqué also called for the strengthening of cooperation between Turkey and the Arab countries in the economic, cultural, educational, media and tourism fields and the establishment of supreme strategic councils to activate such cooperation. The final statement tackled a number of other regional, international and Arab issues as well, especially the situation in Palestine.
