Saudi Arabia will fund OIC environmental meetings

General President of Meteorology and Environmental Protection Prince Turki bin Nasser bin Abdulaziz announced yesterday that the Kingdom will fund upcoming meetings of environmental ministers from member states of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC). The Prince described the initiative, sponsored by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, during a speech in Jeddah marking World Environment Day. Specifying that the meetings will be held in Saudi Arabia every two years, Prince Turki expressed hope that the gatherings will facilitate greater coordination of Islamic countries’ efforts to improve environmental protection and achieve sustainable development.
