King Abdullah receives Brazilian President Lula da Silva

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz and Brazilian President Luiz Lula da Silva held a meeting in Riyadh this evening to discuss ways of strengthening bilateral cooperation, as well as regional and international developments.
At the outset of the meeting, the King decorated President Lula da Silva with the King Abdulaziz Medallion, which is granted to senior world leaders. For his part, the Brazilian leader thanked the King for the aid extended by Saudi Arabia during recent flooding in his country.
Later, in the presence of King Abdullah and President Lula da Silva, Foreign Minister Saud Al-Faisal and Brazilian Foreign Minister Celso Amorim signed a general agreement of cooperation and a Memorandum of Understanding regarding political consultations between their respective ministries.
Also present during the ceremony were Second Deputy Prime Minister Prince Nayef bin Abdulaziz; Acting Riyadh Governor Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz; Deputy Minister of Interior Prince Ahmad bin Abdulaziz; Chief of General Intelligence Prince Miqren bin Abdulaziz; Minister of Communications and Information Technology Eng. Mohammed Mulla; Saudi Ambassador to Brazil Mohammed Kurdi; and the official delegation accompanying the Brazilian President.
