Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz has invited the Chairman of Iran’s Expediency Council, Ali Akbar Rafsanjani, to attend the International Islamic Dialogue Conference in Makkah this June.

Saudi Ambassador to Iran Osama Al-Sanoussi delivered the King’s invitation to Rafsanjani during a meeting in Tehran yesterday. The King invited Rafsanjani to the event because of his influence in the Muslim world, Al-Sanoosi said.

For his part, Rafsanjani noted that disunity in the Islamic world is in the interest of enemies, and that Iran and Saudi Arabia can resolve differences in the Muslim world.

The three-day conference will address the role of dialogue in the promotion of peace among nations. It is being organized by the Makkah-based Muslim World League (MWL).
