Muslim World League condemns violence in Lebanon

May 10, 2008

The Makkah-based Muslim World League (MWL) today expressed concern over the escalating tensions in Lebanon.

In a statement, Secretary-General Dr. Abdullah Al-Turki urged Lebanese leaders to put the national interest first and choose dialogue over force to settle their political differences. He warned that an escalation of the situation in Lebanon will provide Israel with an opportunity to exploit the political crisis and possibly launch another act of aggression.

Dr. Al-Turki called on Muslim nations, the Arab League and Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) countries to act to diffuse the situation.
