King Abdullah, World Bank president discuss Arab development

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz met today with World Bank Group President Robert B. Zoellick at the royal ranch in Jenadriyah, near Riyadh.

Zoellick briefed King Abdullah on the various activities of the World Bank, and the King highlighted the importance of the World Bank’s contributions to the development of the Arab world.

The meeting was also attended by Prince Talal bin Abdulaziz, president of the Arab Gulf Program for United Nations Development Organizations (AGFUND); Deputy Commander of the National Guard Prince Badr bin Abdulaziz; and Chief of General Intelligence Prince Muqrin bin Abdulaziz.

Minister of Finance Dr. Ibrahim Al-Assaf also met separately today with Zoellick to discuss Saudi Arabia’s relations with the World Bank and ways of enhancing them. They also reviewed the Bank’s efforts to deal with poverty in the region, in particular Palestine.
