Border Guard killed in clash with infiltrators

A clash between Border Guards and a group of infiltrators took place at Dhahran Al-Janoub on the Kingdom’s southern border on Tuesday, leading to the injury and arrest of one suspect and the killing of one soldier. According to an official Border Guard spokesman, Lt. Col. Salem bin Saleh Al-Salami, the infiltrators fired at the Border Guard patrol immediately upon realizing that they had been spotted by the officers on duty at Al-Bitaih border post. The exchange of fire led to the death of Lance Corporal Ghazi bin Awadh bin Mesfer Al-Gahtani and the injury and arrest of one infiltrator. An investigation was opened into the incident and is ongoing, the spokesman said, adding that the rest of the suspects fled to the south of Adhod Mountain.
