March 25, 2008
Saudi Arabia reiterated its call for Arab solidarity and unity to confront the political, economic and social challenges facing the Arab world.
Saudi Arabia’s Permanent Representative to the Arab League, Ahmed Kattan, made the remarks yesterday in a speech at a preparatory meeting for the upcoming Arab summit in Damascus.
Commenting on key regional issues, Kattan called for presidential elections to be held in Lebanon and expressed the hope that Syria would adopt an effective role in achieving Lebanese national reconciliation based on the Arab League initiative.
Kattan also noted that the Palestinian issue remains unresolved and called on the Iraqi government to achieve reconciliation away from foreign interference.
