March 23, 2009

Interior Minister Prince Nayef bin Abdulaziz led the Saudi delegation to the 26th session of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers, which began in Beirut yesterday. The two-day meeting is focused on a number of topics pertaining to Arab security.

Prince Nayef, the Honorary President of the Council, delivered an address in which he welcomed a new era of Arab cooperation. "The Arab world is witnessing reconciliation efforts and enhancing the foundations of pan-Arab solidarity and unity with the aim of confronting current threats," he said.

Prince Nayef noted that the movement toward Arab reconciliation began as a result of "the brave and sincere initiative launched by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz at the Arab Kuwait Summit" earlier this year.

Afterwards, the ministers held a closed-door session.
