February 19, 2014
Joint U.S.-Saudi air exercises, held under the name “Green Flag 2014,” began at Nils Air Base in Nevada today. The event included the participation of the Royal Saudi Air Force, in addition to the U.S. Air Force, the U.S. Army and U.S. Special Forces. The commander of the Saudi forces, Group Captain Abdullah Al-Shalhoub, commented that the aim of the exercise is to exchange experience between the Saudi and American sides. The Green Flag Exercises are focused primarily on training for air support operations, in which aircraft assist ground troops in battles against enemy forces and subversive groups.
