Wanted extremist surrenders to Saudi authorities

February 17, 2009

Mohammed Ateeq Owaidh Al-Oafi Al-Harbi, a former Guantanamo Bay detainee, has willingly been repatriated to Saudi Arabia.

An official at the Ministry of Interior announced today that concerted efforts by security authorities in the Kingdom and in Yemen have resulted in the repatriation of Al-Harbi, who was wanted by Saudi security authorities.

Al-Harbi, who once appeared on an Internet tape as the field leader of a deviant organization, conveyed his wish to surrender through relatives to the Riyadh-based Care and Rehabilitation Center.
