Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector General, chaired the weekly Cabinet session held at Al-Yamamah Palace today.
Crown Prince Sultan briefed the Cabinet on the talks held by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz with Qatari Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani during his visit to Saudi Arabia and praised the relations between the two brotherly countries and their keenness to enhance such relations in order to serve the common interests of the two countries.
The Crown Prince also briefed the Cabinet on the contacts and consultations which took place last week with a number of leaders and foreign envoys on the most important regional and international developments, including the telephone conversations with President Omar Hassan Al-Bashir, Chadian President Idriss Deby, and Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
On domestic affairs, the Cabinet discussed a number of economic, cultural and scientific activities. The Cabinet commended the 10th Jeddah Economic Forum organized by the Gulf Research Center under the theme of “Global Economy 2020”
The Cabinet then reviewed a number of issues on its agenda and issued. It approved a number of procedures pertaining to the services of electricity and cogeneration in Jubail and Yanbu industrial cities.
The Cabinet approved a Memorandum of Cooperation between the King Abdulaziz Foundation for Research and Archives of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Heritage Center for Tradition and Culture of Turkmenistan which was signed in Riyadh on February 2, 2009; approved that the monthly financial subsidy, paid for the children of deceased teachers, shall apply to those of deceased female teachers, provided that this shall be limited to the female teacher whose husband is not a teacher; approved an agreement with the Republic of Uzbekistan for the avoidance of double taxation and prevention of tax evasion with respect to taxes on income and capital as well as the attached Protocol which were signed in Riyadh on November 18, 2008.
The Cabinet approved a number of appointments as follows: Abdulaziz bin Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Abdulwahhab as System Expert A (Rank 15) at the Cabinet's Bureau of Experts; Abdulrahman bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Eidan as Financial Advisor (Rank 14) at the Ministry of Defense and Aviation and General Inspectorate; Dr. Badria bint Saleh bin Salem Al-Aradi as Director General of Female Employment (Rank 14) at the Ministry of Civil Service.
