432 tons of water to be shipped to Gaza

February 8, 2009

President of the Saudi Red Crescent Authority Prince Faisal bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz directed that 432 tons of drinking water be shipped to Palestinians in Gaza.

Prince Faisal met in Riyadh today with the Director of the Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean (ROEM) at the World Health Organization, Dr. Hussein Al-Jaza’iri.

During the meeting, Prince Faisal stressed that the Kingdom is keen on providing aid to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinians. However, he noted that the Saudi aid shipment containing 435 tons of water has yet to reach its destination due to the closure of Gaza’s border crossings.

Meanwhile, Dr. Khalid Al-Hibshi, the head of the Saudi Field Relief Team stationed in the Egyptian city of Al-Arish, noted today that fifty tons of children’s milk as well as other food supplies, including juices and dairy products, are on their way to Gaza. The food supplies, expected to arrive tomorrow, will be distributed among school children.
