King Abdullah meets with World Bank president

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah received World Bank President Robert Zoellick at his residence in Kuwait on Sunday.


During the meeting they reviewed the Bank’s contribution to the rebuilding effort in Gaza. They also discussed efforts by the Bank to implement an initiative, announced by King Abdullah at the Jeddah Energy Conference in June, to provide energy for the world’s poor.

The King is in Kuwait to attend the Arab Economic, Social and Development Summit, which began yesterday.

Since his arrival, King Abdullah has held private meetings with Emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Sabah of Kuwait, King Abdullah II of Jordan, King Hamad Al Khalifa of Bahrain, President Bashar Al-Assad of Syria, Emir Sheikh Hamad Al Thani of Qatar, and President Hosni Mubarak of Egypt and Senegalese President Abdullah Wad.

During the sessions, the leaders discussed issues on the agenda of the summit, as well as developments in Gaza.
