King Abdullah announces 2009 State Budget

The state budget for Fiscal Year 2009 (1430/1431 H) was approved by the Cabinet today during a meeting chaired by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz.


During a speech, King Abdullah announced that the 2009 budget is projected at SR 475 billion [$126.7 billion], SR 65 billion [$17.3 billion] higher than last year.

The King said that SR 122 billion [$32.5 billion] will be allocated for education and research, SR 52 billion [$13.9 billion] for health care and social development, SR 19 billion [$5.1 billion] for transportation and telecommunications, and SR 49 billion [$13.1 billion] for water, municipal services and agriculture.
