US mayoral delegation concludes successful trip to Saudi Arabia

Seven US mayors visited Saudi Arabia from November 7-15 on a tour organized by the Saudi Embassy in Washington, DC, in coordination with the US Conference of Mayors.

 

During the trip, the American delegation was able to experience the culture of Saudi Arabia firsthand. The group visited Riyadh, Jiddah and Eastern province and met with several high-ranking Saudi officials, including Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz, Riyadh Governor Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz and Makkah Governor Prince Khalid Al-Faisal. The mayors also met with several Saudi businessmen and women.

The delegation included: Mayor Lawrence Wilder of Richmond, Virginia; Mayor Martin Chavez of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Mayor Frank Cownie of Des Moines, Iowa; Mayor David Cicilline of Providence, Rhode Island; Mayor John Smith of Meridian, Mississippi; Mayor Meyera Oberndorf of Virginia Beach, Virginia; and Mayor Dannel Malloy of Stamford, Connecticut. The officials were accompanied by staff and family members.
