"We are here because we share a concern about the impact of the global financial crisis on the people of our nations," President Bush told the attendees. "We share a conviction that by working together, we can restore the global economy to the path of long-term prosperity."

The G-20 meeting will focus on five key objectives: 1) understanding the causes of the global economic crisis; 2) reviewing the effectiveness of responses thus far; 3) identifying principles for reforming financial and regulatory systems; 4) launching a specific action plan to implement those principles; and 5) reaffirming that free market principles offer the surest path to lasting prosperity.
