Saudi Arabia to move forward with Iraq border fence

October 29, 2008

Saudi Arabia will build a fence along its border with Iraq to prevent terrorists from moving between the two countries, Minister of Interior Prince Nayef bin Abdulaziz said today.

In a statement to the press, Prince Nayef said that infiltrations from Saudi Arabia into Iraq are rare, but that the Kingdom is nonetheless moving forward with plans to build the border fence. He added that the Kingdom is engaging in intensive efforts with Iraqi to extradite Saudi detainees currently being held there.

Commenting on the trials of suspected terrorists currently underway in the Kingdom, Prince Nayef expressed confidence in the fairness of the Saudi judicial system. Those who are found guilty will receive a tough punishment while the innocent will be released, he said.
