Minister of Interior Prince Nayef bin Abdulaziz yesterday highlighted the important role that Saudi universities can play in combating extremism.

In remarks to staff members at Makkah’s Umm Al-Qura University, Prince Nayef said that intellectual security is no less important than public security. He noted that universities are capable of conducting studies and formulating scientific concepts that help eradicate extremism.

In addition to universities, the prince said that Muslim scholars and imams also play a role in combating extremist ideology. He noted that the imams of the Two Holy Mosques are fulfilling their responsibility in this regard and urged other imams to follow their example.
