Crown Prince chairs Cabinet session

Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz chaired the Cabinet session held at Al-Yamamah Palace in Riyadh today.
At the outset, he expressed, on behalf the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, the Kingdom’s appreciation of the resolutions of the 31st session of the Supreme Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), held recently in the UAE, which embody the hopes and objectives of the GCC member states.
Then, Crown Prince Sultan briefed the Cabinet on the foreign consultations that took place last week, including a message sent by Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to King Abdullah and a meeting the Crown Prince held with the head of Morocco’s Council of Advisors, Dr. Mohammad Al-Sheikh Baidallah.
After listening to reports on regional and international developments, the Cabinet praised Brazil and Argentina’s recognition of a Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders. The ministers characterized the step as an important development in the effort to gain international support for the rights of the Palestinian people. Furthermore, they warned Israel not to escalate its encroachment upon Palestinian rights in the Occupied Territories.
Finally, the Cabinet addressed the scientific, social and economic activities and seminars held during the previous week, as well as the Kingdom’s participation in a number of international conferences. It praised the outcomes of the United Nations Climate Change Conference that took place in Cancun, Mexico from November 29 to December 11.
Addressing its weekly agenda, the Cabinet authorized the Minister of Interior to sign four draft agreements with Qatar in the fields of crime-fighting, extraditions, prisoner transfers and the organization of border authorities; approved an agreement on the promotion and reciprocal protection of investments with the Czech Republic, signed in Riyadh on 11/18/09; authorized the Governor of Communications and Information Technology to sign a draft memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the field of communications and information technology between the Saudi Communications and Information Technology Commission and the Algerian Regulatory Authority for Post and Telecommunications; and approved a memorandum of cultural cooperation between the Saudi Ministry of Culture and Information and the Indian Ministry of Culture, signed in Riyadh on 02/28/10.
