King Abdullah’s Global Program for Dialogue, Culture of Peace launched

Permanent Representative of the Kingdom to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Dr. Ziad Aldrees has handed over a check worth $5 million to UNESCO Director General Koichiro Matsuura to kick off the King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Global Program for Dialogue and A Culture of Peace. In an address, Dr. Aldrees underscored his country’s eagerness to activate the program and to begin working towards the goals of cross-cultural dialogue and peace promotion. Director General Matsuura expressed his thanks to the Saudi government for patronizing the program, which he described as greatly importance to both UNESCO and to the world. The endeavor will involve a number of activities aiming to promote a culture of peace by exploring the issues and challenges confronting different communities.
