Crown Prince Salman addresses the nation on National Day

September 23, 2013

In his address to the nation on the 81th anniversary (83nd according to the Hijra calendar) of the founding of the modern Saudi state, Crown Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz highlighted the achievements enjoyed by the nation under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz. The Saudi people, he said, enjoy the safety, security, development and stability that come through determination and the utilization of the state’s resources for the common good. “I am pleased to share with citizens of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia their joy on the 83rd anniversary of the National Day, which is a dear anniversary for the unification of our country,” he said. “The stability of countries is one of the most important factors of prosperity and progress of civilizations . . . Stability ensures the application of laws and preserves rights. It prepares a safe working environment and production that stimulates growth, encourages investment, and creates more opportunities for jobs, expansion and development.”

Crown Prince Salman stated, “Ensuring stability and its permanence does not come through wishful thinking, but through hard work for the achievement of justice by organized systematic work.” As a result of the Saudi government’s tireless efforts to promote the rule of law through institution-building and legislation, he said, justice and order have prevailed in the Kingdom. “All those who bet to destabilize our country have lost in the first round, and all those who bet on the weakness of the loyalty of citizens to their country have failed since the first day,” he said. “They have forgotten that the pillars of the state have been in common with the values of individuals, that this country has been built by the hands of their ancestors who have achieved unity and maintained it in a country that continues the application of Sharia, achievement of justice and preservation of the rights.”

While acknowledging that the Kingdom has faced its share of security, economic and other challenges, Crown Prince Sultan welcomed the reforms offered by King Abdullah since his ascension to the throne. “The state is striving tirelessly to achieve the well-being of citizens and is looking for shortcomings in housing issues, providing jobs and health care, education quality and efficiency of the work of the services departments,” he stated. “So, let us give it time and opportunity and let us help it to develop with sound criticism, advice and opinion and not with destructive attack. “

The Crown Prince concluded, “It will be no secret if I tell the dear citizens of the Kingdom that the concerns of citizens, especially the young people of them, today occupy the largest space and enjoy the greatest attention by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, who greatly cares for their issues, which include concerns such as providing decent jobs, raising the level of income and facilitating decent housing and full health care for themselves and their children. Therefore, focus and investments in current projects and future plans are directed to address these issues and overcome these challenges. I pray to God Almighty to help us all do what is good, and to bless all of our work.”
