Crown Prince Salman chairs Cabinet session

Crown Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz began the Cabinet session at Al-Salam Palace in Jeddah today by expressing, on behalf of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, appreciation for the leaders and heads of delegations who participated in the Islamic Solidarity Summit in Makkah on August 15-16. He praised the spirit of brotherhood, harmony and frankness that prevailed at the meeting, reflecting the commitment of Islamic leaders to promoting solidarity in all its dimensions. The Cabinet congratulated King Abdullah on the success of the Summit, noting that the participants adopted the proposal of the Saudi monarch for the establishment of a center for dialogue among Islamic sects.
After listening to a number of reports on the latest regional and international developments, the Cabinet wished the new United Nations and Arab League Envoy, Lakhdar Brahimi, success in his mission to end the bloodshed in Syria. The ministers also lauded the final communiqué issued by the 124th Ministerial Meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Foreign Ministers, which encouraged the progress of GCC cooperation.
Addressing its remaining agenda items, the Cabinet re-formed the Military Service Council; approved a memorandum of understanding between the Saudi Ministry of Interior’s Financial Intelligence Unit and the Albanian General Directorate for the Combat of Money Laundering for cooperation in the exchange of information regarding money laundering and terrorism financing; and approved the organization of the General Commission for Audio and Visual Media.
The Cabinet approved the appointments of Saad Al-Ajlan as Financial Consultant at the Naval Forces at the Ministry of Defense; Ahmed Al-Hujairi as Undersecretary of the Mayor for Municipal Affairs at the Jeddah Governorate; Hussein Al-Shuwaish as Economic Consultant at the Ministry of Finance; Saud Al-Hazmi as Director General of the Minister’s Office at the Ministry of Culture and Information; and Yahya Al-Yahya as Director General for Administrative and Financial Affairs at the Ministry of Labor. All the appointments were made at the 14th rank.
