Kingdom calls for decisive action on Syria
August 28, 2013
The Kingdom on Monday reiterated its call for the international community, represented by the UN Security Council, to shoulder its responsibilities towards the Syrian people, who continue to suffer from appalling massacres. During its weekly meeting, the Cabinet warned that a failure to act in the face of the Assad regime’s use of chemical weapons against its own people will only invite more tragedies.
On Tuesday, Foreign Minister Saud al-Faisal called for decisive and serious international action against the Assad regime. Prince Saud said that the Syrian regime's rejection of all sincere Arab efforts and refusal to cooperate with all earnest international initiatives, as well as its persistence with the massacre of its people, particularly the use of chemical weapons, calls for serious and firm international action. Prince Saud also said that the regime has lost its Arab identity, and is no longer affiliated with the Syrian civilization in any way.
