August 16, 2014
The Ministry of Hajj has announced the end of the Umrah season for 1435H (2014). Assistant Undersecretary of Hajj Ministry for Umrah Affairs and General Manager of a branch of the Ministry of Hajj in Jeddah province, Abdullah bin Mohammed Marghalani, said that over six million Umrah performers took part in the 1435H season. Assistant Undersecretary Maghalani added that Umrah visa violators decreased during this season to record low 0.014%. He attributed the drop to stricter application of the global electronic system Umrah Electronic Track, which controlled requests for Umrah visas and continuously monitoring the movement of arrival and departure of Umrah performers and their accommodations in Makkah and Madinah, in coordination with the Ministries of Interior and Foreign Affairs in addition to licensed Umrah companies and institutions.
