Crown Prince receives President of International Committee of the Red Cross

Crown Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz received the President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Peter Maurer, at his office in AL-Salam palace in Jeddah yesterday. The Crown Prince stressed the importance of humanitarian aid and confirming the Kingdom’s support for charitable works around the world. For his part, Maurer praised Saudi efforts to care for people affected by armed conflicts. Then, the two sides discussed various issues of common interest.
The audience was attended by President of the Saudi Red Crescent Authority (SRCA) Prince Faisal bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz; Minister of State Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz; and a number of senior officials.
During a subsequent meeting between the ICRC President and the SRCA President, Maurer praised King Abdullah for his recent donation of $500 million to help the Iraqi people. They also discussed cooperation between their two organizations on humanitarian programs, particularly those in Iraq and Syria.
