Cabinet highlights the King’s vision for domestic and foreign policy

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz chaired the weekly Cabinet meeting in Jeddah today.
King Abdullah opened the meeting by briefing the Cabinet on his recent consultations with world leaders and their envoys. He highlighted Saudi Arabia’s ongoing efforts to boost relations with countries around the world, foster Arab unity and safeguard its national interests.
In honor of the third anniversary of King Abdullah’s reign, the Cabinet reviewed Saudi Arabia’s domestic and foreign policies over the past three years. It highlighted the King’s vision, which incorporates the following elements:
- Islam as a basis for Saudi creed, law and identity;
- Balanced and sustainable development throughout the country and investment in its infrastructure;
- Modernization and technological innovation;
- Emphasis on social programs and providing a decent standard of living for citizens;
- Ongoing investment in the energy, petrochemical, mineral and tourism sectors;
- Serving pilgrims as well as maintaining and expanding the Two Holy Mosques;
- Actively seeking Arab cooperation to confront regional crises;
- Supporting a modern Islamic vision for the future and implementing plans for Islamic cooperation;
- A balanced foreign policy and fostering dialogue among countries and cultures;
- Achieving security by constantly and aggressively confronting terrorism and the terrorist mindset.
The Cabinet urged government departments, social institutions, the media, intellectuals and social activists to incorporate the King’s vision on all levels.
In addition, the Cabinet approved a number of procedures for governmental organizations to follow during the Hajj as well as a civil air transport agreement with China.
