King Abdullah chairs Cabinet meeting

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz chaired the weekly Cabinet meeting at Al Salam Palace in Jeddah today, which began with the ministers congratulating the Saudi monarch on the fourth anniversary of his ascension to the throne. They commended the King for increasing development and prosperity at home, while encouraging peace and inter-cultural dialogue abroad.
King Abdullah then briefed the Cabinet on his recent discussions with foreign leaders, including a meeting with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and phone calls from Bahraini King Hamad Al-Khalifah and Yemeni President Ali Saleh.
After reviewing its agenda, the Cabinet approved a number of measures concerning rural complexes, including the transformation of organizational structures of rural complexes; amended the beginning of the next school year to Saturday 14/10/1430 H.; approved the publication of final decisions issued by special judicial committees; and authorized the Minister of Water and Electricity to sign a memorandum of understanding with the Korean Ministry of Environment for cooperation in the administration of water and sanitary drainage.
The Cabinet approved the appointments of Jdaia’ Al-Qahtani as Advisor for Technical Affairs at the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs (rank 15); Abdulsalam Mashat as Undersecretary of the Mayor for Services at the Makkah municipality (rank 14); Shojaa’ Al-Moslih as Undersecretary of the Mayor for Municipalities Affairs at the Eastern Province municipality (rank 14); Khalid Al-Saghair as Director General of the Legal Department at the Ministry of Education/Boys’ Education (rank 14); Abdullah Al-Mosaed as Director General of Educational Media at the Ministry of Education/Boys’ Education (rank 14); and Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Homaidhi as Director General of the Affairs of Students Abroad at the Ministry of Higher Education (rank 14).
