During an event at the Saudi Embassy in Beirut today, Saudi Ambassador to Lebanon Ali Awwad Asiri handed over funds to 1,000 displaced Syrian families to pay their rents over the coming months. The aid was provided by the Saudi National Campaign to Support the Brothers in Syria. The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to Lebanon, Ninat Kelly, was present at the ceremony.
Addressing the gathering, Ambassador Asiri stated, “The projects to be implemented by the Saudi National Campaign to Support the Brothers in Syria, during the next phase, include the extension of the housing rental project for 1,000 Syrian families for 6 months at a cost of about 1,800,000 U.S. dollars.” He emphasized that the Kingdom’s continuing provision of aid is meant to alleviate both the suffering of Syrian refugees and the burden carried by the Lebanese state.
