King Abdullah holds talks with visiting German Chancellor

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz and visiting German Chancellor Angela Merkel held a meeting at the King’s palace in Jeddah last night. The two leaders discussed regional and international developments, focusing particularly on the Middle East peace process and the global economic situation. The talks also covered Saudi-German relations.
On the Saudi side, the meeting was attended by Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz; Deputy Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector General Prince Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz; Second Deputy Prime Minister Prince Nayef bin Abdulaziz; Makkah Governor Prince Khalid Al-Faisal; Chief of General Intelligence Prince Miqren bin Abdulaziz; Minister of Finance Dr. Ibrahim Al-Assaf; Minister of Commerce and Economy Abdullah bin Ahmed Zaenal; and Saudi Ambassador to Germany Dr. Osama Shobokshi. A delegation of top German officials was also in attendance.
Afterwards, Chancellor Merkel departed Jeddah, concluding her two-day visit to the Kingdom.
