U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon called on U.N. member states to create a Global Counter-Terrorism Coordinator and thanked Saudi Arabia for its contribution to creating the United Nations Counterterrorism Center. During a meeting of the U.N. Security Council on Friday, Secretary-General Ban said that terrorism is a global scourge that requires a global response. “I am grateful for the contribution of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to create the Counterterrorism Center, and I would like to encourage all of you to contribute to our efforts,” he stated. Last September, Saudi Arabia and the U.N. signed an agreement to establish United Nations Counterterrorism Center, with the Kingdom contributing $10 million for that purpose.
