The Jeddah-based Islamic Development Bank (IDB) has announced plans to expand cooperation with India, particularly in the fields of education, training and coaching, according to a report published today by the Arab News.
The plans, under which several new projects in India have been approved by the IDB to receive financial grants, come within the framework of the IDB’s special assistance program for Indian Muslim institutions. “The IDB has pledged to support the educational projects within the framework of the regulatory provisions of the Indian government,” said Kamal Faruqui, an IDB representative in India, who also serves as the Chairman of the Delhi Minorities Commission and the Director of the Central Bank of India.
