May 5, 2010
The Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Washington opened its doors to the public on May 1, offering cultural and educational activities as part of the third annual Passport DC cultural tourism program. More than 2,000 visitors attended the event, which featured traditional Saudi food, art, clothing, musical performances, folk dancing, Henna painting and a variety of other educational and entertaining offerings. Staff members of the Embassy and the Cultural Attaché Office, along with a number of Saudi students, were on hand to guide visitors through the various displays.
More than thirty embassies took part in the “Around the World Embassy Tour,” which kicked off an entire month of Passport DC events. The festivities are being organized by Cultural Tourism DC, an independent nonprofit coalition of more than 230 culture, heritage and community organizations located in Washington.
