King Abdullah receives Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz received Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas at his office at the Royal Court in Riyadh today. During the meeting, they discussed developments in the peace process and the ongoing efforts to achieve the creation of an independent Palestinian state. Also in attendance were Chief of General Intelligence Prince Miqren bin Abdulaziz; Advisors to the King Prince Abdul-Ilah bin Abdulaziz, Prince Abdulaziz bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, Prince Mansour bin Nasser bin Abdulaziz, and Dr. Bandar bin Salman bin Mohammed Al-Saud; and a number of senior Palestinian officials.
In an interview with Okaz
newspaper published today, President Abbas described the positions of King Abdullah regarding the Palestinian issue as “historic and principled.” “The King has been supporting the Palestinian cause in its various stages at regional, Arab and international arenas,” he noted. “Our visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia comes within the framework of a series of important meetings with the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to be enlightened by his wise and good visionary advice, to discuss developments in the Palestinian arena, to enhance relations, and to activate political dialogue for supporting the steadfastness of the Palestinian people and achieving their legitimate aspirations.”
