Ministry of Foreign Affairs to require electronic powers of attorney for visas
May 4, 2008
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will no longer accept paper-based powers of attorney for issuing visas at Saudi embassies, effective June 5, 2008. Instead, electronic powers of attorney will be accepted.
Ministry Undersecretary Prince Khalid bin Saud said that the new regulation aims to protect visa holders by reducing trafficking in visas and forged powers of attorneys. He also said that the Saudi Chambers of Commerce and Industry as well as recruitment officers are equipped to apply the new regulation.
