Amnesty period extended for those who have overstayed visas
April 28, 2011
The Ministry of Interior announced yesterday that the time frame of a royal pardon for visitors to the Kingdom who have overstayed their Hajj, Umrah or tourist visas has been extended. In a press statement, the Ministry said that those whose visas expired before September 25, 2010 have until September 14, 2011 to leave the Kingdom. The statement urged people to capitalize on this opportunity by reporting to the authorities and departing the Kingdom, warning that the punishment for overstaying visas can include fines, imprisonment and vehicle confiscation.
