Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz has directed that a set of Iraqi conjoined twins be transferred to Riyadh for a possible separation surgery.
Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah, chief executive officer of the National Guard Health Affairs and chief surgeon at King Abdulaziz Medical City, said that the two boys were born a month ago in Mosul and that they share a chest and abdomen. Their condition is stable, he added.
Batteries of tests will be performed on the boys to determine if a separation surgery would be viable. As in previous cases, King Abdullah is funding the boys’ medical and related expenses.
